Madison Allen
"The Black Sheep"
Age: 19
Appearance: She has a slim build and an average height. She carries a thin scar on her left arm from when she ran with her mother from the police station ten years ago. A branch whipped out and cut her in their frantic escape, leaving her a physical reminder of what happened a decade before. Thin pink lips, a button nose - she's a beautiful young lady, but the way she dresses and carries herself clashes with her physical appearance. She always wears dark clothing similar to an old friend's, and she has the tendency to put a damper on things rather than brighten the day with her cute face.
Personality: Madison is dark and reserved and doesn't really fit in anywhere. Aloof and quiet, she's always the spectator in the crowd. She rarely has anything to say aside from when someone asks her to read them tarot cards, a skill she picked up upon returning home to Seattle after the killings. She doesn't associate with them in the sights of her mother, but they intrigue her. They're a link to her devastating past, one that she reflects upon quite often.
Relationships: Shea Moreland is Madison's mother, whom she loves greatly. Even though she's old enough to move out now, she lives with her mother to give her a sense of stability. She views James Moreland, her stepfather, as a decent enough guy. She doesn't know him very well, but if he makes her mother happy, then Madison's content with him. She gets along fine with her stepbrother Carter, but the mostly seem to just stay out of the other's way. While Madison and stepsister Valarie are friendly with one another and hang out on occasion, Valarie's twin Vera dislikes Madison and Shea and doesn't associate with them. Madison is relatively unbothered by this and tries her best to avoid Vera.

Remington Black
"The Titan"
Nickname: Rem
Age: 19
Appearance: He has been incredibly tall since grade school - as though he had been through a taffy puller as a child. He has shortly cropped hair and eyes like moss - soft, in contrast to his hard-cut face and features. He seems to have a permanent scowl etched onto his face, and his tall, barrel-chested physique gives him a very intimidating air.
Personality: Rem doesn't talk a lot - he really doesn't have that much to say. While most people stereotype him as being an idiot with a thick hide, he's actually rather bright, having graduated within the top twenty-five of his senior class in high school. He keeps to himself and doesn't associate with many other people. While he seems hostile and antisocial to those who don't know him, he's very much a softie and has a heart of gold.
Relationships: Outside of his family, the first person he's ever opened up to is his girlfriend Sophie, who looked beneath his tough guy exterior into the man he is beneath. He cares for her well-being above his own - he fell very hard for her. Once she graduates, he plans to join the army - and if all goes well, he wants to finally put that diamond ring he keeps in his gun safe to good use.

Miranda Blackburn
"The Socialite"
Age: 47
Appearance: She's a woman of short stature, and her features are a little too perfect. Having had several plastic surgeries over the years, she's made sure that each aspect of her body is to her standards and that all signs of aging have been erased, as she aims for the look of a woman in her twenties. Her attire consists of many imported furs (never fake, of course), and she trends with the latest styles, no matter how ridiculous they are. Nothing about her is cheap, and she holds no natural beauty.
Personality: Miranda has a short attention span and an even shorter temper. Jumping from one rich husband to the next, she usually gives the current "squeeze" all her attention, thus neglecting her children. When Miranda doesn't get what she wants, she throws a fit that can put a toddler to shame. In her world, it's Miranda first and everyone else after. She wasn't always like this; she grew up in a middle class family and fell in love with Mr. Moreland, but once she had her first taste of big money, love turned to greed, and she wanted more and more.
Relationships: Randal is Miranda's current husband. He treats her like gold, though it's easy for most people to tell that she's with him for the money. Miranda doesn't spend a lot of time with her three children, Carter, Valarie, and Vera, and has virtually no relationship with them. She's come along on the trip to "reconnect" with them. And while she has remarried, she may still have feelings for James Moreland, her first husband and the father of her children.

Randal Blackburn
"The Stepfather"
Age: 56
Appearance: As opposed to his wife, he looks every bit of his fifty-six years, but he sports them well. The crow's-feet at the corners of his eyes and the parenthesis surrounding his mouth are permanent from a nonstop smile. His eyes have a boyish twinkle to them. He always dresses nicely and carries a gold pocket watch that belonged to his German grandfather, a man whom he admires.
Personality: Randal is a carefree, loving soul that has never known the heartaches of living without money, so he does have the tendency to get a headache and snap at people who complain of financial issues. But otherwise, he's a laid-back guy.
Relationships: Randal is slightly ignorant of his second wife Miranda's past three marriages with rich, successful men - all he seems to notice is the attention that Miranda shows him, so he treats her like a queen and gets her anything she wants. He loves her dearly and would die for her.

Thorpe Brunson
"The Joker"
Age: 21
Appearance: He's a bit of a mousy fellow, short and skinny. Despite his size, he's relatively strong. He has high cheekbones splashed with freckles and a very boyish twinkle in his eyes. When not on the job, he dresses very casually and doesn't dress well even for formal occasions.
Personality: Thorpe may be college-aged, but he still has the maturity level of a fifth grader. He always sought attention as a child and ended up filling the role of class clown at his elementary school. On the rare occasions that he is serious, he's very intelligent and logical. Though the keyword here is "rare," so this doesn't happen very often.
Relationships: As cold and unaffectionate as his coworker Sara can be, Thorpe is very fond of her. He has a rather obvious crush on her to which she is oblivious. He also considers her to be his "straight man," a term Sara is not at all partial to. Thorpe considers the groundskeeper Jerry to be his grandfather and often comes to him for advice and friendly words.

Jerry Carpenter
"The Groundskeeper"
Age: 74
Appearance: He's a balding old man of an average height and build. Despite his advanced age, he's in very good physical shape due to his job maintaining the inn grounds. He dresses for comfort over appearance, though his wardrobe typically consists of good-looking plaid button-downs and denim jeans without a tear or stain. His skin is tanned and worn and rough like old leather from all the sun he received as a lad.
Personality: Having grown up miserably poor, Jerry is as tough as nails and doesn't require the creature comforts of the younger generation. He's an outdoorsman through and through and is rarely inside other than to eat, sleep, and take the occasional break. He scorns technology and laziness in general and only uses the bare minimum of electronic devices that he can. He has an incredible work ethic and never complains, though he's bull-headed at times and refuses to back down once he digs his heels into something.
Relationships: He is the father of Liz Charpentier, the owner of the inn that he maintains. Upon the death of the woman that was Jerry's wife and Liz's mother, the two of them are well enough estranged from one another. He's become fond of one of the security guards, Thorpe, who has more or less become the grandson he never had.

Isaac Castle
"The Producer"
Age: 50
Appearance: Despite being well into his middle age, he's still quite a ladies' man. He's still able to retain a somewhat youthful and attractive appearance. The only thing that gives away the fact that he isn't in his early thirties is the color of his hair. Being a former actor, he's in relatively good shape and has none of the conditions that usually plague the older generation. His usual attire consists of sleek jackets, plain collared shirts, and khakis.
Personality: To most, Isaac seems to be an overly friendly and energetic kind of person. He seems able to tolerate a lot from people and always seems to have kind words for others. On the inside, he is a stressed workaholic. In his youth, he was a famous actor, but now he has resorted to reality TV to keep his name in the limelight. He will do just about anything to make sure that he stays in the public eye.
Relationships: Isaac has a rocky relationship with his wife and son. His finances have been tight and have caused troubles in his marriage. He hopes that his new show will make enough in ratings to patch up his relationship with his wife and pay for his son's college.

Jennifer Caton
"The Absentminded"
Age: 30
Appearance: She's a woman of short stature with pouty pink lips. She doesn't smile often and has a distant look in her hazel eyes most of the time. She doesn't dress to impress, usually sporting jogging britches and hair pulled back.
Personality: Jennifer doesn't talk a lot; it's not in her job description. When she does speak, what she has to say is important, and she won't repeat herself if someone chooses not to listen. Having dealt so long with the job that she hates as the sound technician, she refuses to put up with anyone else's bull. When she gets angry, she seethes quietly, but whoever pushed her buttons will wind up paying in the end. Regardless, she doesn't often get angry - she's more or less lonely and depressed. One of the only times she looks lively is when she's around her children, but her occupation pulls her away from them more often than not. She misses her kids and feels as though she isn't there for them whilst they grow up.
Relationships: Jennifer is in a not-so-happy marriage to David Caton. When she does get time off, she heads to their nice home in Georgia where her two babies are being raised by their father. Jennifer's love for her kids is immense, but she chooses to stay with her job so that her kids can have the best in life - given that David is an avid drinker, he has a hard time keeping a steady job. Through work and traveling, she's become acquaintances with Darius Cooper, and while his odd ways confuse her and weird her out at times, it's always nice to have a friend on the road with you. .

Liz Charpentier
"The Innkeeper"
Age: 42
Appearance: She's a well-stacked, gracefully-framed French woman just entering her middle age. She's a bit taller than average with long, smoothly-muscled arms and legs and a slight waist. She has silky brown hair that falls just past her shoulders, and she cuts it regularly due to the speed it grows. She dresses eloquently every day and even while at home - she feels that she should always play the role of elegant host, even in the privacy of her own home.
Personality: Liz prides herself on being incredibly polite and courteous with her patrons, always with a pleasant smile on her face and a rich hum in her voice. However, if badgered or pushed too far, she can become very cold and icy in her retorts. When irritated or frightened, she can easily slip into French without her noticing. She's often harassed by male customers, though she has no problem at all dealing with them with the pistol she has concealed behind the front desk.
Relationships: She is the daughter of Jerry Carpenter, her head groundskeeper. After her French mother passed away, Liz changed her last name from Carpenter to Charpentier, its French equivalent. Liz and Jerry rarely talk outside of work - they have very little to talk about.

Darius Cooper
"The Extremist"
Age: 25
Appearance: He's a man of exotic looks, unable to be recognized from his high school years. He often changes the color and style of his hair, and while he's fond of color contacts, blue is his favorite. He has a tongue ring that he received when he was sixteen in the back of his best friend's pickup truck and a homemade tattoo on his left forearm that says: "Born to Lose." One could say that he's stuck in the rock-and-roll era, but he just proclaims that he's unique and has his own style.
Personality: Darius is a quiet fellow due to his inability to talk to the "uppity-people." He's a nasty drunk and is apt to pick a fight once he's had a couple of shots. However, he can be a very nice guy so long as others respect his golden rule: "If I help you, you help me." He can be very unreasonable if he isn't paid back what he feels he's due. People wonder if he is homosexual with his exotic style, but he states wholeheartedly that he's straight. It wasn't until he was twenty-one that he found his calling in life as a cameraman. He started out by recording bands at the local bar and worked his way up by going to school and becoming a genius with the camera, editing and adding special effects. It's his whole life now, and he does a very good job at it.
Relationships: Darius was a trouble child and frequently ran away from home. At eighteen, he ended up getting a girl pregnant and offered to marry her, but upon her choice of abortion, Darius has been a man that fancies a shot of whiskey every night before bed. He rarely keeps in touch with his family, and after a year of him ignoring his mother's calls, they have lost contact with him as well.

Kathryn Cox
"The Journalist"
Age: 27
Appearance: Being on camera, she is expected to dress nicely, so she generally chooses to wear a pinstriped dress-suit and matching high heels. Oddly enough, she doesn't wear jewelry. She's a beautiful woman - not too small, but not too big either.
Personality: Kathryn is an unsteady lady, having been diagnosed with bipolarity. So long as she takes her pill every night, then she's like a normal human being. She gets angry, sad, and happy like everyone else. But if she misses her medication, her mind will take over, and she'll have an anxiety attack: heart racing, hyperventilation, pacing, twitching, the need to scream and cry at the same time - there's no way to predict what will happen. Missing the timer for her medication is Kathryn's biggest fear.
Relationships: Kathryn has been single for a while now, given that every relationship she has been in has resulted in the man running in the opposite direction of her condition; they don't want to be with a "crazy" lady. Kathryn's father killed himself when she was a little girl, and it was rumored that he, too, was bipolar, leading to his suicide, but it's uncertain whether or not this is true. Kathryn's siblings often give her leery looks as though in fear of her, and these looks didn't start until after her diagnosis. So while this puts her off from her siblings, Kathryn is very close to her mother, and they often call one another every couple of days or so. .

Travis Dawson
"The Outsider"
Age: 18

He keeps his hair cropped closely on the side and back and long in the front, which he keeps combed and parted to the side. His general attire consists of button-ups, t-shirts, jeans, and other types of casual clothing.
Personality: Travis is a pretty reserved individual. He prefers to keep to himself rather than partying with other teens his age. He's highly intelligent but with rather poor social skills, rather shy and silent. While he isn't sociable, he does have a few people with whom he confides in.
Relationships: Travis is the assistant groundskeeper for the Candlewick Inn under Jerry Carpenter. The two get along very well and have a mutual respect for one another. Travis has also sparked friendships with Danny Lawton and Mari Soto. He has a crush on Mari, but it appears to be one-sided.

Johnny Denton
"The Conman"
Age: 19
Appearance: He's a tall guy with a hefty stature from constantly handling heavy suitcases and other odd-end jobs. When out of the inn uniform, he mostly wears casual attire. He has a dashing smile that can capture anyone's heart, and he uses this to get whatever he wants.
Personality: Johnny is very cunning, his mind like a clock with the gears always spinning. His intelligence is well-masked when he gives a false uneasy smile and scratches the back of his head in an endearing manner. And Johnny knows what kind of effect he has and uses it to his advantage. After having gone through a bit of a rebellious stage as a junior high student, he learned how to use his good looks and appealing expressions to deceive the unknowing. He's only genuinely affectionate towards Loreanne and little Noah, and he will do anything and trick anyone to get a better life for his sister and nephew. He hates that Loreanne has gone through as much as she has, and that's why he agreed to come along to Harper's Island with her. Perhaps he can get something from what he calls the spoiled rich brats.
Relationships: Johnny is the only son of John and Deborah Denton. His older sister is Loreanne, and when she became pregnant, he had to watch his parents disown their only daughter due to her decision not to get an abortion, and this made Johnny hate his parents. He grew very close to Loreanne during her pregnancy and visited her every week of the way, and he was present when his little nephew Noah was delivered. At that time, Johnny vowed to take care of Loreanne and Noah no matter what the cost, even if it meant taking from others.

Loreanne Denton
"The Single Mother"
Age: 23
Appearance: She has a soft, loving face. She doesn't wear the best of clothes because she feels that if she spends too much on herself, she's taking away from Noah. She's a little thin, but otherwise average.
Personality: Loreanne can be described in a single word: Noah. Her son is her entire world, and she does her best to give him the best childhood possible. She can spend hours on end talking about her "little man," and only the Lord can help you if she gets the pictures out. At any other time, she's a bit of a wallflower, but with Noah, she's lively and truly happy. Loreanne tends to stay under the radar and avoids the center of attention. She doesn't bother trying to catch a man's eye; she's happily single. Loreanne is a hard worker and easy to get along with, unless you have something negative to say about her baby.
Relationships: At a young age, Loreanne was a wild child. Sneaking out of the house to see boys, buying cigarettes with the money she stole from her mother's purse, she did anything to escape the strict fence that her parents built around her. However, when Loreanne became pregnant when she was sixteen, that was the last straw. Her parents kicked her out of her house, and her mother referred to her as a disgrace to even God himself. Her boyfriend ditched her, and all the friends she partied with turned their backs on her. She did keep one friend, though, by the name of McKenzie, whose family took her in with open arms, and Loreanne settled in with them. It was during this time that Johnny and Loreanne became close. Loreanne quit school during her pregnancy and began working. It wasn't until Noah was three that Loreanne moved out of her friend's home and began working towards her G.E.D. Begrudgingly, she has come to Harper's Island to take a job that will triple her salary, and she plans to use the money for things like equipment for baseball that Noah yearns so badly to play. Loreanne just wants to hurry up and get back home, to her baby.

Sara Fielder
"The Picket"
Age: 26
Appearance: She had always been a big woman, even as a child. After constant teasing in grade school about her weight, she began working out, and flab quickly turned to muscle. With a flat chest, strong chin, and broad shoulders, she can be considered a very butch chick, but otherwise, she's a very pretty woman. She has hard eyes like stone and keeps her long hair tied into a ponytail.
Personality: As a child, Sara was very outgoing and energetic, but after being picked on, she began to recede into herself and became very quiet and self-conscious. She still has low self-esteem, but she's come out of her shell since her school years and is now more of a tough guy type. She won't take crap from anyone and doesn't really have a sense of humor. When on duty, she has a one-track mind and disregards distraction.
Relationships: She and her co-worker Thorpe are a bit of an odd-matched pair, with stony-faced Sara and Thorpe the slap-happy idiot. Sara is completely oblivious to Thorpe's infatuation with her and acts rather cold and irritable towards him. Despite this, she cares for him like she would a brother and would lay her life down in an instant to keep him safe.

Gaven Flitch
"The Nerd"
Nickname: Glitch
Age: 17
Appearance: He's a short young man of lean figure and Japanese-American descent. He has puppy-dog eyes and looks younger than he actually is. He's well-groomed and always dresses nicely - designer jeans, jackets, shirts, and shoes. He has poor blood circulation, and as such he is usually cold and easily susceptible to hypothermia. To avoid issues with that, he always wears a jacket and goes for morning runs.
Personality: Glitch doesn't fully act like the child of a millionaire. He's a sensitive boy who feels things deeply. He's got a sweet personality and helps anyone in need. Glitch is very intelligent for his age and is a trivia guru. He's also good with technology and enjoys tinkering with electronics.
Relationships: Glitch is acquainted with virtually everyone attending the party, excluding the inn staff. He is Valarie Moreland's best friend and her brother Carter's significant other. Glitch and Valarie have been very close since their first day of kindergarten, and their families often went on vacations together. He's always been there for her through thick and thin. Glitch has been dating Carter Moreland for almost two years, and it was his boyfriend that came up with the nickname "Glitch" for him. Their relationship has been somewhat rocky given Carter's flirtatious ways. Carter's father James doesn't seem to like Glitch very much, something the latter has constantly tried to change.

Bri Gallagher
"The Vixen"
Age: 17
Appearance: She loves dangly jewelry and will always being wearing something from a very expensive store. She wears very revealing blouses and her jeans way too tight. She's been told that she has a very nice rear, but she used to lack in the breast area, until she complained to Daddy when she was sixteen and received implants. Her boobs were the talk of the school for a while, but she blew the rumors off, and now the scars are barely visible.
Personality: Bri is the vindictive type. She generally hides this under her easygoing, just-wanna-have-fun nature at parties and the like, but when it comes to Carter Moreland himself, she could very well be the devil's spawn. Bri is used to having guys trip over themselves to be with her, and at a sleepover with the twins when they were all sophomores, Carter had taken her farther than she had ever gone - and then left her alone without a care. Her obsession with him is what she has dubbed "love," and the fact that he wasn't "in love" with her as well eats away at her. She'll do whatever it takes to be with him. Bri is also very homophobic, leading her to hate Glitch for not only being gay, but for being Carter's steady man. Bri believes that Carter isn't bisexual at all, and that he only says that for the attention.
Relationships: Bri's mother is rarely around, often in Paris preparing for her latest fashion show. Whenever the two do see one another, her mother is always telling Bri to walk straighter, hold her chin higher... and what is that God-awful color that she has on her fingernails? Bri has never felt good enough for her mother, and this has served to make the two of them rather distant. On the other hand, she's very close to her fun and silly father, whom she gets her partying nature from. If he ever has to stay late at the bank where he works, he always makes up for it later in the week by taking Bri and her little sister Lily out for ice cream - a ritual Bri used to love until she found it to be lame. At six years old, Lily is the accident baby that gets on Bri's nerves, making her wish that she was an only child. Bri dislikes the fact that her father left her mother once he came out of the closet.

Markus King
"The Ferry Driver"
Age: 49
Appearance: He's a balding man well into his middle age. Like many men his age, he's begun to gain a few pounds around his middle, though he's still got a little bit of youth left in his frame. He typically wears slacks and formal button-ups.
Personality: Markus is a hardworking man who does as he's told without much of a fuss. He's very friendly and amiable and doesn't make a lot of enemies. It's about as hard to hate him as it is to make him angry. Due to his wife's illness, he has grown desperate for money, and he'll take any paying job he can get. While not a very avid seafarer, he keeps a stiff upper lip and bears his duty well.
Relationships: Markus has a teenage daughter and an ill wife back in Seattle. He and his little girl have a strained relationship, due to her ill feelings towards him for working all the time rather than attending Mrs. King. Markus longs to dote on her the way a father should on his only child, but the current situation makes it difficult for him to make time for her.

Danny Lawton
"The Assistant"
Age: 25
Appearance: With sandy blond hair, captivating brown eyes, and a swimmer's physique, he's an instant playboy. He swims and runs regularly to stay in shape and keep his toned appearance. He typically sports sneakers and jogging shorts and prefers to go shirtless. When fully clothed and outside his chef's attire, he goes with jeans, t-shirts, and tennis shoes.
Personality: In contrast to his mentor Clara, Danny is a rather laid-back individual. Other than his vigorous workouts, he takes everything in stride, especially his cooking. Although he's not a health nut, he does enjoy staying in good shape. He exercises and eats right, and he gives smoking and drinking a wide berth. Danny's a pretty mellow guy and easy to get along with. He knows how to take a joke and is very hard to offend, but he becomes absolutely enraged when an insult is aimed towards Clara or anyone else he sees as unable to defend themselves.
Relationships: Danny's mother died in childbirth, and his father became an alcoholic shortly after her death. When Danny was eight, his father died in a car accident while intoxicated, and Danny was sent to foster care. He was bounced around from one home to the next until he was eighteen. During that time, he taught himself how to prepare different types of meals. Upon leaving foster care, Danny got a job in a classy restaurant. Impressed by his talent, his boss was able to get Danny an interview with the famed chef Clara Rizzo. She was intrigued by his natural ability and took him on as an assistant. Clara is like the big sister that Danny never had, and they bicker back and forth like true siblings. Danny is very protective of her and has an extreme dislike for her ex-boyfriend, Davis Palmer.

Lee McElroy
"The Lawman"
Age: 31
Appearance: He's a buff man that wears his badge proudly. He's covered in scars and calluses from a life of hard work. He's handsome, strong-cheeked, tall and intimidating, and he typically wears casual clothes while not on the job.
Personality: Lee is a very good cop and does his best to keep crime off the island, but having a family of five with another on the way takes its toll on him. Along with being head of security for the Candlewick, he's always looking to make a deal. He's also a part-time mechanic that buys banged-up vehicles to fix them up and resell, but in tough times, this isn't enough. While in one light, he really has a protective, laid-back, do-good demeanor, he also has a bit of a shady side to him. He'll sell pills to drug addicts for some extra pocket money and occasionally release men without putting that barroom brawl on their permanent record for some dollars slid under the table...
Relationships: Lee was born in Delaware, but he moved to Seattle when he was twenty-three with his wife Denise, who was his high school sweetheart. They have had three children together, and Denise is seven months pregnant with their next one. There's eleven-year-old Roy, eight-year-old James, and their little sister Delilah, who is four.

Alex Moreland
"The Geek"
Age: 16
Appearance: He's very tall, very lanky. Despite the amount of time he spends outside hunting and swimming, he's very pale, giving him a slightly pinched, unhealthy look. He has a head of dark curly hair that only falls slightly short of being an afro.
Personality: Alex is very loud and outgoing, though he doesn't keep a large number of friends. He's incredibly bright in every subject and passes even the hardest classes with ease. While he puts on a good, cheerful face in front of others, he secretly is very insecure about his social skills and is a bit of a loner.
Relationships: Alex and his mother Karen don't see eye to eye on a lot of things. They're two completely separate entities, and while he treats her with the respect a mother deserves, he doesn't really communicate with her a lot. He's fonder of his easygoing father Scott, but whenever they do talk, it's about banal things like the weather and how well Alex is doing in school. Alex and Vera have despised each other since they were children. While Valarie is a great deal more cordial to him, Alex doesn't really have much of a relationship with his cousins anymore. The three played together when they were kids, but they drifted apart during their teenage years. Glitch is really Alex's only close friend and serves as his constant confidante.

Carter Moreland
"The Deviant"
Age: 19
Appearance: He's someone that cares greatly about his image. He works out regularly and never has a hair out of place. His blond-haired and blue-eyed looks have made him quite popular with the ladies. He's usually sporting the latest fashion trends and a pair of particularly expensive sunglasses. He always has the pocket watch that Glitch gave him on his person.
Personality: Being the firstborn Moreland, Carter has always lived in the lap of luxury. He is a very narcissistic person and believes that everyone worships him. He doesn't give a damn about anyone else's opinion and goes about doing things his own way. He does have a sweet and caring side to him, but he very few people have ever seen it. He loves Glitch, but he has a hard time of showing it, especially when he's sleeping around.
Relationships: Carter is very close to his little twin sisters. He gets along with Valarie better, but Vera takes after him more as far as personality goes. Vera and Carter used to despise one another, but they've become a bit more cordial as they've grown older. As for his parents, Carter only speaks to them when necessary. He doesn't particularly care for his mother Miranda or her new husband Randal, nor does he have an opinion about his father James's new marriage with Shea. He's friendly to both Shea and her daughter Madison, as they're both decent enough to him. He treats his boyfriend Glitch well in the same respect but cheats on him regularly, making the relationship very tremulous. His best friend, Jason Alexander, is also Valarie's boyfriend. They're both of high class, so they have a lot to bond over.

James Moreland
"The Celebrity"
Age: 50
Appearance: He's a well-built man who has gone slightly to waste in the wake of his success and riches. He's retained his slender physique, but he now sports a belly that's not quite so flat. He has shortly-cropped hair that has started to grey at his temples and unique eyes that seem to change shades in the sunlight. His carelessly handsome looks and surprising charisma have made him a very accomplished actor.
Personality: James has a way of words, making him a natural at writing. He had already published several award-winning novels by the time he got into acting. He's incredibly charismatic and has a passion for literary works and older films. He's very softhearted and a bit nostalgic, and while he can be a very fun dad, he finds it hard to step up and be strict.
Relationships: He's very close to Valarie, who considers herself to be a bit of a Daddy's Girl. Vera, on the other hand, has very little to do with him, and they're very well estranged - he tries to buy her affections back, but as currency is something she's already come to expect, he's not garnering a lot of success. He's very good friends with Isaac Castle and has been since the two of them were budding actors. It was Isaac who initially got him into show business, and they've helped one another out and starred side-by-side in movies for nearly twenty years.

Karen Moreland
"The Aristocrat"
Age: 43
Appearance: She's a small, squat, slightly plump woman in her early forties. Her hair is almost always done up in a heavily sprayed bun, so most are uncertain as to how long it actually is. Her skin is well tanned due to frequent tanning bed visits, and she uses an almost excessive amount of makeup. She dresses well no matter what the occasion, be it a visit to the president or a trip to a laundromat.
Personality: Karen, having been raised as the baby in the family, knows what she wants and knows how to get it. Eccentric? To a degree. While not quite stuck-up and snobbish, she has an elegant, well-to-do air about her that can sometimes intimidate the lesser of status. Underneath the prim, uptight facade is a very kind and selfless woman who is willing at any time to do a good deed - so long as she isn't caught doing it.
Relationships: Karen often squabbles with her husband Scott. The two are very different in personality, but they complement one another rather well. She and her son Alex don't really have a lot in common and as such rarely talk about meaningful things. Initially, Karen had a thing for Scott's brother James, but she eventually fell out of love with him and married her current husband. She still has a bit of a schoolgirl crush on him and doesn't mind playfully ogling him every now and then.

Scott Moreland
"The Loafer"
Age: 46
Appearance: He's a relatively average-looking guy all around. Average height, average girth, dark hair that's starting to grey at the temples, well-trimmed beard. His skin is darkly tanned from all the summer days spent playing golf.
Personality: Scott, when with his wife Karen, doesn't seem to have opinions of his own. He's pretty laid-back and easygoing, and he has a hard time dealing out discipline. Scott dislikes having to move around or adopting any sort of responsibility, but he's always raring for a game of golf.
Relationships: Scott and his son Alex were close in Alex's younger days, though they've fallen out since then due to a lack of communication on both ends. Karen tends to treat Scott rather poorly at times, but the two do love one another despite their qualms.

Shea Moreland
"The Writer"
Age: 44
Appearance: She's a woman that looks and acts refined. She always wears nice dresses or a blouse and slacks. She's very dignified in her stature and quite beautiful in her age now. She has a few scattered strands of hair that have gone silver, but she does nothing to hide them. She symbolizes natural beauty to the fullest. She keeps on her person a locket that was once given to her sister Trish by the man she loved.
Personality: On the outside, Shea is someone that could be described as a politician's wife. She's strong, respected, and refined, but on the inside, she's very fragile. She's still haunted in her nightmares by events that happened a decade prior. The ache in her heart of losing Trish has dulled over the years, but coming back to the island where her only sister was murdered by her fiancé has made the pain fresh, like ripping away a scab. She is completely against going back to the island and is very indignant towards her stepdaughter Vera for having brought up the idea in the first place.
Relationships: Madison is Shea's only child. As such, Shea has been very overprotective to her, even more so after the events of Harper's Island ten years ago. She hates to ever let Madison out of her sight, despite the fact that Madison is now old enough to fend for herself. She loves her daughter dearly and would do anything for her. Eight years after the death of Richard Allen, Shea's husband and Madison's father, Shea met James Moreland, her current husband, at one of his book signings. He asked her out for coffee, and they dated for a year and a half before getting married. Shea loves James with all her heart, though she wishes that he would have a little more empathy for her and cancel the trip to Harper's Island entirely.

Valarie Moreland
"The Debutante"
Age: 17-18
Appearance: She's very natural - hair without dye or highlights that exhibits an organic glow. She has a well-proportioned figure. It's rare that she ever wears makeup, and when she does, it's a very light amount. She wears very nice clothes and her hair neat and flowing loosely down to the middle of her back.
Personality: Being the youngest child, most would assume that Valarie would be very spoilt. On the contrary, she's the humanitarian of the Moreland family. She's sweet, kind, and caring, and she volunteers for all sorts of causes: helping the homeless, protecting wildlife, and saving the environment. She's willing to go out on a limb to help anyone in need. Valarie is an especially easy person to get along with and doesn't act like the daughter of a high-class family.
Relationships: Valarie is head over heels in love with her boyfriend, Jason Alexander. They are a cute young couple with their whole lives ahead of them. Even though she has a substantial amount of money herself, Jay showers her with gifts and takes her and her friends to extravagant parties and other events. Gaven Flitch, better known as Glitch, has been her best friend since before she can remember. They've always done everything together and, despite all their time together, have never had a falling out. Their parents were also close friends, and both families often took vacations together. Valarie and Vera were inseparable as children, but they've since grown more independent of one another. The twins still get along rather well and have a few common interests that bond them together. She and her older brother Carter are very close. Seeing as Carter is dating Valarie's best friend and Valarie is dating Carter's best friend, they spend a lot of time together. Valarie looks up to him and would help him with anything. Valarie loves both of her parents, and she doesn't get to see her mother Miranda often, so she's happy to have her attending the party.

Vera Moreland
"The Celebutante"Age: 17-18
Appearance: She's a sultry, voluptuous young girl. Her hair is sleek blond shot through in pink, in good shape due to the constant care put into it. She has the body of a model - large bust, well-shaped face, slender waist, knockout hips, long legs. She wears the newest designer clothes, never hand-me-downs - she can, after all, afford the best.
Personality: Vera knows exactly what she wants and exactly how to get it. She can push just the right buttons on anyone she knows to get her way and has no reservations about doing so. Surprisingly, she's a very good student and makes excellent grades at school - while not quite at the level of Valedictorian, she's still smart enough to keep herself out of trouble. She's tsundere in the respect that the ones she bickers with and claims to hate are usually the ones that she loves the most.
Relationships: The twins, Valarie and Vera, get along as well as any siblings should. While there will be an occasional falling out, they're always there for one another when the going gets tough. Whenever boys would pick on Valarie in elementary school, Vera would always be there to verbally abuse and/or beat up the would-be bullies, and Valarie was always there for Vera whenever she broke down. Vera's relationship with her boyfriend, Samual, is a shallow one - however, she likes the attention she gets by being with him. Vera always bickers with Glitch and harbors a certain distaste for him. In reality, she's rather protective of her brother's boyfriend and will snap at anyone who gives him hassle; she says that because it's her sister's best friend, Vera should be the only one allowed to give him a hard time.

Davis Palmer
"The DJ"
Age: 25
Appearance: He's a rather tall and lanky fellow with an odd sense of style. He wears bright yellow Converse, jeans, yellow short-sleeved jackets, and white shirts that look to be spattered with different patterns of paint. As a DJ, he always has a pair of bulky headphones around his neck that also appear to be streaked in paint as well.
Personality: Even though he's past college age, Davis still likes to party like he's a rock star. When not DJing, he's drinking the night away and partying with the youngsters. He has a thing for younger girls and a drug addiction that could get him into some trouble.
Relationships: The only people Davis knew prior to the party are Clara and Danny, the chef and her assistant. He had worked another job with the two of them and dated Clara once upon a time. He's still in love with her and doesn't like that she spends so much time with Danny.

Desmond Riley
"The Rebel"
Age: 18
Appearance: He has the obvious air of a jock. He's a well-built high school athlete that plays basketball and football, keeping him in good shape. He's a fairly attractive young man, but he acts as though he's not aware of this. His hair is usually unkempt, but it looks nice on him.
Personality: Desmond is not the brightest crayon in the box, but what he lacks in intelligence he makes up for in strength. He's an arrogant person when it comes to his achievements and loves to brag whenever he gets the chance. He has the desire to be the hero in everything and will go the extra mile for a little attention.
Relationships: Desmond is the life of the party and knows all the people on the guest list. He gets along well with everyone except Samual Sears, his rival. He's hated Samual all through high school for stealing Vera from him. While he has no bitter feelings towards Vera for breaking things off with him freshman year, he feels that his former best friend shouldn't have gotten with his ex.

Clara Rizzo
"The Femme Fatale"
Age: 28
Appearance: Having always been rather wealthy, she is always seen wearing designer dresses that perfectly fit her curves whenever she's not working. She's a natural-born Italian beauty with the looks to prove it. She's of average height and weight, but she often wears high heels to make herself appear taller.
Personality: Clara is the definition of perfectionist. She wants everything in her life to fit all of her expectations to the dot, including her cooking. She's not afraid to voice her opinions, positive or negative, to anyone around her. Clara is easily angered and doesn't back down from a confrontation. Regardless of her occasional hotheaded attitude, she expresses kindness and gratitude to those who show her respect in turn.
Relationships: Clara's parents died when she was a teenager, and they were her only family. Because her career calls for her to travel all over the world, she doesn't have many people who are truly important to her. The only one she is close to is her assistant, Danny Lawton. She views him as her little brother and treats him as such. She taunts and ridicules his work ethic but also cares deeply for him and wants to protect him. Clara dated the DJ Davis Palmer for a short time, but the two later broke things off and chose to just be friends. She harbors no bitter feelings towards him about anything.

Melissa Roberts
"The Bartender"
Nickname: Mel
Age: 24
Appearance: She's a typical woman in her mid-twenties of average height and weight. Regardless, she's a very attractive young lady and is often hit on by her more drunken clientele. She always keeps her hair tied back in a ponytail, and she generally wears casual blouses with jeans and tennis shoes. While she doesn't dress very formally, she always looks good.
Personality: Melissa is a kindhearted soul. She's nice and polite to everyone, no matter how rude and vulgar they are to her. When pushed, she can be very firm in the things she says, but she's never brash or rough with any of her customers. She's able to keep her cool in almost any situation. The only thing that frightens Melissa is her fear of the paranormal. She's absolutely horrified or ghosts and other haunted whatnot.
Relationships: Melissa is a bit secretive and doesn't really talk about herself much, so not a lot is known about her personal life. She has said nothing about family or any significant other, and no one really knows where she's from. She has only known her coworkers at the inn for a short time, so she hasn't really opened up to them either.

Samual Sears
"The Bad Boy"
Nickname: Sam
Age: 19
Appearance: Dark hair, dark eyes, he's Desmond Riley's evil twin. He goes with leather jackets, stained shirts, and torn jeans. He's a football player and has the muscled frame that says so. He also has a bright smile and tanned skin that drive the ladies insane.

Samual just does whatever he wants. He has no reservations about hurting other people so long as he gets his kicks. He honestly doesn't seem to care about anyone but himself.

Maricela Soto
"The Capricious One"
Nickname: Mari
Age: 18
Appearance: She's a Latina girl with a very nice figure and a decent face; her nose is a little too long and her teeth aren't quite white, but when she puts on one of her favorite provocative dresses, men don't take heed of her less-than-perfect facial features.
Personality: Mari is very outgoing and gets distracted easily, especially when she's supposed to be cleaning a guest's room. Regardless, she takes her scolding from the innkeeper for having a drink with the young man in 10A and going to dance with the group of youngsters in the C wing rather than scrubbing the floors as she was told. Her weakness is men, and she's been used and tossed to the trash by many of them.
Relationships: Mari takes her flirtatious ways from her mother, Maria Soto, a strong and beautiful Latina woman who conceived her through a one-night stand. This is something that Mari has a lot of anger about, an anger that grew after her mother's death the year before. Mari also has two half-siblings that live in Virginia, both of whom are grown adults.

Sophie Tarver
"The Plain Jane"
Age: 18
Appearance: She's a very ordinary sort of girl - a face that would get lost in a crowd. Dusky brown hair that goes straight up in a ponytail whenever it doesn't behave (which is always), fawn-colored eyes hidden behind thin-framed glasses. She's skinny, but not glamorously so. She tends to wear old, baggy clothes, which is all her family can afford.
Personality: Sophie has the modest personality born with a lack of money. Despite her less-than-satisfactory living conditions, she doesn't spare a second to complaint; she's completely pure and full of positive energy. Sophie hopes to graduate and earn a scholarship to a good college - however, her grades aren't very good. Despite this, she has an incredible will and refuses to back down no matter what the situation.
Relationships: Sophie is good friends with Valarie Moreland and Calledonia Young, giving her equal exposure to both of the Moreland twins. Valarie does her best to aid Sophie where money is involved - discreetly, of course. Callie is the fashion police and has spent several unsuccessful years trying to coax Sophie out of her tomboy shell. Her boyfriend, Remington Black, is the only significant other that she's ever had, due in part to her poverty and lack of astounding good looks. Rem is a solid rock of comfort to her whenever she does feel down, and he gives her as much happiness as money could ever hope to buy.

Calledonia Young
"The Flirt"
Nickname: Callie
Age: 18
Appearance: She's a small-framed girl with sleek, fox-colored hair that cascades past her shoulders in a dark red fountain. She has clear blue eyes the color of a midsummer sky and perfect long lashes that flutter daintily with every blink. She has a bit of a small bust and an even smaller waist, making her look three years younger than she actually is. She has a fair complexion and doesn't use an ounce of makeup.
Personality: Callie's a bit of a klutz and can act air-headed sometimes, but she's as sharp as a tack and has a surprisingly strong will for such a small person. She attracts a great number of admirers due to her pretty face and outgoing personality, and also to the fact that everything about her is organic. No makeup, no mascara, no padded bra or hair extensions. She won't hold back her opinions and speaks her mind no matter the situation.
Relationships: Callie is best friends with Vera Moreland. They've known one another since elementary school and have several common interests - shopping, boys, the occasional bit of gossip. Unlike Vera, who feels the constant need of having a boyfriend, Callie is as happy single as in a relationship and doesn't understand Vera's clinginess. Callie's always there for her during the fights and the bad breakups, and while she tries to be a good role model for Vera to follow, she's not sure how well she's doing.
